Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the CPSIA?

A:
CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Saftey Improvement Act. This Act, as of February 10,2009, prohibits the manufacture, sales or distribution of any product meant for the use of a child, 12 years and young, that contains more that 600ppm of lead. These items include toys, clothing, bikes, stollers, cribs and car seats.

Q: How will that affect what Impact accepts and sells?

A:
Impact Thrift will no longer accept nor sell toys meant for the use of children 12 yrs and younger. Children's clothing that has painted zippers, snaps or buttons will no longer be accepted as a donation nor sold by Impact Thrift. Impact will only accept cribs, car seats and stollers that are NOT on the Consumer Product Safty Recall List.

Q: How can I find out more information on the CPSIA?

A:
You can visit the government web site at www.cpsc.gov/cpsia
